The themes were required to rank these 13 descriptions of children in three ways in which as follows: (one) on the degree to which they themselves would really like to be like the youngsters, the ensuing data providing what would possibly be referred to as the “self-ideal” of our subjects; (2) on the degree to which they believe each of the youngsters with these various qualities would succeed in adult life, the ensuing data providing what would possibly be referred to as the “success image” of our subjects; (three) on the degree to which they believed their academics would really like each of the youngsters, the ensuing data providing what would possibly be referred to as the “teacher perception” of our subjects.

The complete population of the school virtually without exception ranked “social skills” initial as the quality in which they would really like to be outstanding, and “good appearance,” “high energy level,” “athletics,” and “health” last. In read of this terribly high agreement, the responses were reranked omitting the uniformly ranked qualities, therefore leaving as the significant variables: moral character, creativity, goal directedness, intelligence, superior faculty perform¬ance, wide range of interest, emotional stability, and sense of humor. The findings reported here are based on the reranked data. Two queries regarding the two experimental teams might be treated summarily. Do they perceive the qualities required for fulfillment in adult life the identical approach? Do they perceive the qualities favored by academics the identical approach?
